Hanif “Wally” Dahya serves as a Director of New York Community Bancorp, Inc. and its bank subsidiary, Flagstar Bank, N.A. He joined the Company’s board in March 2007. In addition to chairing the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, Mr. Dahya is also a member on the Audit, Compensation, Executive, Board Credit, and Technology Committees. He also serves as the independent Presiding Director of the Board.
Mr. Dahya is the Chief Executive Officer of The Y Company LLC, a private investment firm that focuses on emerging-market companies in the environmental, energy, and oil and gas recycling industries.
Mr. Dahya spent 14 years on Wall Street, having started his career at E.F. Hutton & Co. in corporate finance, and later serving as managing director at L.F. Rothschild & Co. In addition, Mr. Dahya was managing director of the Mortgage-Backed Securities Group at UBS, where he also was a member of the Fixed Income Management Committee. Mr. Dahya was a partner at Sandler O’Neill Partners LLC from 1991 to 1997.
Mr. Dahya is a graduate of Harvard Business School, Class of 1983.
